Adidas to Become Partner of Beach Volleyball Duo Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst

Sporting goods manufacturer Adidas is the new outfitter of successful German beach volleyball players Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst.

The Bavarian company is sponsoring the beach volleyball world record holders in view of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Additional joint projects will also be put into action.

“Kira Walkenhorst and Laura Ludwig are two exceptional personalities in the German sporting world. We look forward to welcoming them both into the Adidas family,” says Winand Krawinkel, Director of Adidas Central Europe.

Laura Ludwig is excited about the collaboration: “We’re very impressed by the Adidas creator philosophy. There are many similarities there to our own way of thinking about, living, and developing sport.

Victory in the Beach Volleyball World Championships, out early in the European Championships

In Vienna at the beginning of August, Walkenhorst and Ludwig were crowned the first female German beach volleyball world champions. At the European Championships in Latvia a few weeks later, the duo were eliminated in the quarter final. The athletes celebrated their biggest sporting success at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where the pair from the Hamburger SV won gold medals.
