Synonymous with mountaineering and outdoor apparel, BLACKYAK has launched a collection that will give an all-round cool touch performance. Since its conception in 1973, this South Korean brand has become a global player in design and performance combined with highly technical fabrics for mountaineering through to winter sports. A seasoned winner of ISPO Award, the focus of this new collection is on cool touch and freshness.

“BLACKYAK is targeting growth globally and we partnered with Hyosung who is a leader in innovative fibers to support our continuous development “ said Woon Suk Jung, President of BLACKYAK.

“BLACKYAK has traditionally been a mountaineering outdoor brand. Our first initiative in this partnership was to create new COOL & FRESH garments made with askin polyester and creora Fresh spandex as our consumer is going from mountaineering to other, more leisure activities,” he said.

Anti-Odor Performance Yarns Creates the Function

The fabrics incorporated into the collection are a combination of askin polyester, a unique cross-section polyester fiber for cooling, moisture management and UV protection that is built into the yarn, teamed with odor neutralizing creora Fresh spandex with higher power for compression performance and freshness.

The cool-touch and anti-odor appeal is a growth area with consumers. The spandex content, in particular, gives both power fit combined with odor-neutralizing function, perfect for sports bras and running tops for the women’s market, and high compression streamlined fit for men’s base layer tops.

As the women’s sports bra sector grows, the need for added design combined with cool touch and longstanding freshness is further enhanced through prints and body mapped zoning, ensuring detail plus specific levels of power and performance through anatomical design.
