As before in previous years, the global World Snow Day saw to bringing children ages four to 14 closer to winter sports. The “Cable Session” at ISPO MUNICH 2016 followed a similar approach, where kids were able to try out their first tricks in a specially constructed snow park.
More than 586,000 participants joined in at the 625 events in 42 countries for World Snow Day on January 17. Free skiing and snowboarding passes, gifts and prizes, as well as free lessons were among the top offers of participating suppliers from sports and industry.

Among them were the international ski association FIS, the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI), as well as the winter sports companies Atomic, Elan, Nordica, and even Salomon.
The final report published on June 1st describes the event’s success from the standpoint of the organizers and participants. Over 70 percent of the organizers consider World Snow Day very helpful when it comes to bringing new customers to ski resorts. To the question of renewed participation in the 6th World Snow Day on January 15, 2017, more than 80 percent answered yes.
71 percent of participants had a lot of fun at one of the 625 events, and a record-breaking 93% want to be involved again in 2017.
