A climbing helmet means trust and protection, a companion you need when things go sideways. As performance-driven climbers push into more exposed terrain, their gear must deliver lightweight comfort without losing reliability. Still, when everything fine, you do not really want to notice that it’s there. The Wall Rider 2.0 MIPS Twiceme embraces this challenge. Mammut’s latest evolution builds on the success of the original Wall Rider MIPS—the first climbing helmet ever equipped with MIPS technology, and takes it several steps further in weight reduction, ventilation performance and smart safety integration.
Mathias Heck, Engineering Lead at Mammut, explains: “The Wall Rider 2.0 MIPS Twiceme is the pinnacle in our helmet range. It is building on the strong foundation of the highly successful Wall Rider MIPS, that was the first ever climbing helmet featuring MIPS technology.”
During development, Mammut focused on making the helmet lighter while improving comfort and performance in alpine environments. As weight is one of the key talking points when chatting to ambitious climbers and alpinists, it has been significantly reduced in this helmet: 205 g in size S/M and 225 g in size M/L. Also, a redesigned internal ventilation architecture channels airflow under the partial hardshell, supported by large vents that prevent overheating even during long, slow technical moves on warm rock.
Heck continues: “In developing the helmet, we managed to significantly reduce the weight, integrate an innovative internal ventilation system and greatly optimize the fit of the helmet. All this was achieved without compromising the roots of the helmet that are based on durability, robustness, multi-impact EPP foam and an iconic design.”
“To top things off, we managed to integrate the Twiceme safety technology next to the MIPS brain protection system”, Heck adds. “We are very proud to launch the Wall Rider 2.0 MIPS Twiceme helmet and excited to see it out on crags and mountains around the world, protecting climbers and elevating their experience.”
With Twiceme integrated alongside MIPS, the helmet introduces a new layer of digital safety support. Twiceme allows climbers to store medical information directly in the helmet, accessible to first responders via a simple scan. Features such as Rescue Alert, Friends Alert, Get Back Timer and upcoming automatic fall-detection alerts are designed to speed up rescue response and improve safety in remote environments. This forward-thinking mix of analog and digital protection marks a new direction for climbing safety gear.
The Wall Rider 2.0 MIPS Twiceme uses a hybrid construction with a robust ABS partial hardshell and EPP/EPS foam for multi-impact protection and a low-profile fit. The EPS foam is 100% recycled, while the internal padding is made from bamboo, enhancing sustainability without affecting performance or comfort.
Function defines every detail: a minimalist look, stable 360-degree fit system adjustable with one hand, low weight, strong impact absorption, and airflow that works in slow, exposed vertical movement where wind is the only cooling factor. The result is a helmet that feels almost invisible during climbing but stands ready to protect when it matters most.
