In the outdoor and ski sector belongs Schöffel has been one of the leading companies in the German-speaking world for years - now the clothing brand from the Bavarian town of Schwabmünchen is also attacking the cycling sector. The completely newly developed cycling collection includes 46 parts and was precisely tailored to the respective requirements in the three bike categories Gravel, Trail and Travel.

.

"It is the logical consequence of our history, our expertise and the needs of our customers to launch a high-quality bike collection," said Peter Sontheimer, head of product development at Schöffel Sportbekleidung GmbH. "Without a doubt, Schöffel also has a lot to offer for this field of activity. So we start from spring 2021 with a broad collection for women as well as men."

Tailored for Gravel, Trail and Travel

The bike clothing is based on three years of development work and is aimed at both enthusiastic hobby cyclists and performance-oriented advanced riders. To meet the different requirements in the individual segments Gravel, Trail and Travel, the Schöffel designers took into account special aspects such as seating positions and movement sequences. Accordingly, specific materials, technologies and functionalities are used. The new bike collection includes 23 parts each for women and 23 for men.

.

The clothing for the Gravel range is aimed at the sporty bike enthusiast. It is rather performance-oriented and designed for activities off the road. The trail line, on the other hand, was developed for rides in the mountains or in the vicinity of cities: Tours with climbs and downhills are the focus. Since many athletes wear protectors and backpacks in the trail sector, special attention was paid to freedom of movement and special reinforcements in the shoulder area in this collection. The Travel line, on the other hand, is aimed at sporty, ambitious bike travelers as well as touring cyclists who are active with pleasure and sometimes in a group. Therefore, the collection pieces are designed for multi-day tours with changing weather conditions.

Novel technologies

Two innovative developments are the focus of the new collection: the so-called Skin Pants and the Pertex Shield membrane. Schöffel has developed the former based on its extensive experience with the fit of pants. The completely new pants category is positioned between conventional bike underpants and traditional bike shorts. It is built on a layering system. Made in Italy, Skin Pants are worn normally under bike shorts and promise a perfect fit with comfortable padding. This is ensured primarily by the gender-specific pads and cuts. In addition, the Skin Pants are categorized according to the intensity of use and are suitable for two-, four- or eight-hour rides. Schöffel works with technology partner Elastic Interface on this product.

.

Another powerful technology is the highly technical Pertex Shield membrane. It combines extreme breathability with one hundred percent waterproofing and windproofing. In addition, it ensures unrestricted freedom of movement with great robustness and very low weight.

.

In the trail line, Schöffel also relies on body mapping, combining different material properties. For example, the areas of clothing over which backpacks are worn are equipped with particularly robust materials.

.

In some garments of the new Schöffel cycling collection, Polartec Delta is also used. The use of different yarns with different hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties ensure perfect moisture management in these garments.

Real added value for customers

"The new bike collection is a special step in Schöffel's development," Peter Sontheimer summarizes. With the highly specialized clothing for cyclists, Schöffel not only wants to accommodate the increased trend towards outdoor activities, but also establish a completely new segment alongside the existing collections. "We know the market and of course we are aware that there are some suppliers who offer good products." However, he says, the idea was never simply to expand the Schöffel product range. Rather, they wanted to develop outfits that offer customers real added value. "They should make the customer feel in activity that he is wearing an optimal conception of functionality, fit and high material quality," says Sontheimer. "And he should feel that the design also expresses his personality - with our customers that means: sovereign, unexcited and clear!"

.

The new Schöffel bike collection will be available in time for spring 2021 in all well-stocked bike and outdoor stores as well as in all Schöffel-Lowa stores.
