The "Old Man" in the Lake District is a popular region for hikers. All the footsteps are causing massive erosion, scarring of the landscape and destruction of the vulnerable vegetation on the fragile terrain. The goal of the project is to restore the main path for hikers with natural and traditional techniques and to keep the maintenance of the famous path ongoing.

Conserving Central Asia's Ancient and Nut Forests

Fruit- and Nut Forests are essential for the survival of small communities in Central Asia. Especially in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan people depend on medicinal plant, wood for fire, hay and livestock grazing. The exploitation of the forest is not sustainable. The project wants to educate people and help them build a new existence with the selling of honey or local tourism. Fast growing saplings are planted and fences to protect them from grazing livestock are built.

Rewilding the Highlands, Scotland

Dundreggan is the flagship conversation of Tree's for Life with 4000 hectare land. The project focuses on conservation and recovery of the Scottish Highlands over the next 250 years. Over 300 volunteers will plant 50.000 trees and create patterns of disturbance by mimicking the presence of wolves to allow young trees to flourish. The cooperation with local communities is a vital part in the conservation of the Highlands.

Saving Mountain Gorillas, Rwanda

The well known long-term project strives to save the Mountain Gorilla of Rwanda. Directly next to the Virunga massif is one of the most populated areas of Africa. The extreme poverty forces the population to live of natural resources from the national park including water, wood and bushmeat. The goal is to protect the Mountain Gorilla with daily monitoring, removing of snares and support for anti-poaching controls and campaigns
