The permanent move of ISPO Munich and Outdoor by ISPO has nothing to do with the current Covid situation and the high incidence rates in Bavaria. However, they are a reaction to the market changes accelerated worldwide by Covid.
Upheavals in the global supply chain have lead to changes in the order cycles. In our intensive discussions with market representatives in the run-up to this decision, we have received a great deal of support. The vast majority of our partners welcome the decision to permanently hold ISPO Munich at the end of November and Outdoor by ISPO at the end of May/beginning of June starting in 2022.
ISPO Munich will therefore take place from 28-30 November 2022 and OutDoor by ISPO in May/June 2023.
The date shift reflects the market's demand (see above). A date at the end of January for ISPO Munich would no longer have suited the current circumstances.
The permanent rescheduling of a fair date that has been learned for years is not an easy decision. We examined it extensively in advance because we know what an important role both fairs play for the sporting goods industry. And we have had long and intensive discussions with many market partners of ISPO Munich and Outdoor by ISPO.
However, the events and general conditions of the last few weeks with the bottlenecks in many supply chains have once again accelerated the discussion process with the industry. Many of our partners have come to the conclusion that the dates of our leading trade fairs should be adjusted to the current situation. Together we then decided to act quickly and decisively and to permanently shift the dates in order to achieve long-term planning security for all involved.
We’ve received a very good response from the market to the new date. That's why we are absolutely confident that ISPO Munich in November 2022 will be very popular.
Yes, our new concept reflects the requirements of the market and also results from the wishes of the industry. The new concept with a B2B and a B2C2B area is future-oriented and gives exhibitors the chance to get in touch with their target group. In addition, with the Experience Hall in the B2B area, we provide a platform for the industry to come together, communicate and exchange ideas, with an exclusive conference and speaker programme.
ISPO Munich does not simply open up to the public. Instead, we add a B2C show to the trade event. And this B2C show has its own independent concept and thus better meets the requirements of B2C visitors and exhibitors. After all, both target groups (B2B and B2C) differ considerably in their expectations.
For similar reasons as for the November date of ISPO Munich. The early June date for Outdoor by ISPO fits much better into our customers' strategic planning. As a kick-off at the beginning of the season, it gives them the opportunity to get an early overview of the new products of the season, so that they can then better start the subsequent ordering season and optimise their product range. It perfectly complements ISPO Munich in November and helps us strengthen the position of Outdoor by ISPO as the leading trade fair for the outdoor industry. This also coincides with the wishes of our partners.
The decision is based on a comprehensive survey of our customers and was reflected upon and validated with our advisory board and the conceptual partners. As the organiser, the final decision was of course made by Messe München.
From our discussions with customers and partners, it quickly became clear that the right time for the trade fair had absolute priority. Since the exhibition centre in Munich is simply not available at the desired time, we will be guests at the MOC once in 2022. This even has an advantage as all the well-known brands are already present in the outdoor, sports and shoe order centre located there and thus good brand coverage is offered. In addition, thanks to the industrial look of the directly adjacent Motorworld (as a former Deutsche Bahn repair works), the staging possibilities are different from those in classic exhibition halls.
Motorworld is an event venue located directly opposite the MOC. Due to their cool industrial look, the areas available there are ideally suited for the presentation of outdoor fashion brands, start-ups, future conferences or simply for events and parties. Indoor as well as outdoor. This combination of MOC and Motorworld has already been practised very successfully by other event organisers in Munich for years and has proven to be very successful due to the proximity and the different staging and usage possibilities.
In 2023, we have the option of staying at the MOC or returning to the exhibition centre. The final decision will be made after Outdoor by ISPO 2022 - depending on the feedback from our partners and customers.
