
Biography
Tessa Koschel is a Human Performance Scientist, Speaker, and Coach with a Ph.D. and CSCS certification. She created the trademark "Perinatal Periodization and Performance" and is an expert in using movement for cognitive control. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver and the State Director of the NSCA Oregon Advisory Board. She is also the owner of Fitness Therapy Coaching & Consulting, which focuses on continuing education related to the neurophysiological adaptations to exercise. Dr. Koschel has extensive experience in fitness and health education, with previous roles at the Miami Beach JCC and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. She works with the first responder population on cognitive control and perinatal performance. She is the innovator of Fitness Therapy Coaching and Consulting, which uses anthropology and neurophysiology to improve human performance. Her background includes an NCAA Track career and 10 years of coaching NCAA athletics and strength and conditioning. She has also conducted NIH medical research and advocated for the need for S&C professionals in US healthcare. In 2024, she received the Editorial Excellence Award for the NSCA Strength & Conditioning Journal.
