Climate change and increasing competition for urban space pose major challenges for municipalities. Sports facilities play a special role in this context: they are often land-intensive, but through climate-adapted planning, ecological construction methods, and multifunctional usage concepts, they can make a significant contribution to urban development. This presentation will show how sports facilities can be transformed into sustainable spaces – not only for exercise and social interaction, but also for cooling, rainwater management, and ecological diversity.
