
Biography
Daniel Waterkamp is Head of the bluesign Academy and a member of bluesign’s management team, where he drives knowledge development, industry standards, and capacity building for sustainable chemical management and responsible manufacturing. A chemical engineer and sustainability expert with a PhD in process engineering, Daniel began his career in green chemistry and micro-reactor technology before joining TÜV Rheinland in 2009, where he led chemical compliance testing for global apparel and footwear brands. He later expanded into industrial services, focusing on inspection and decarbonization initiatives. Since 2015, Daniel has contributed to bluesign’s mission by evaluating chemical manufacturers worldwide and coaching partners on product stewardship and sustainable practices. In his current role, he leads the Academy’s efforts to connect science, industry, and implementation toward a more sustainable textile supply chain
