At the heart of this high-tech one-piece suit is a sophisticated protection system that works reliably even in Arctic conditions. The combination of a Gore-Tex ePE membrane and improved seam sealing with ultra-light adhesive tape, applied using high-temperature bonding, guarantees complete windproofing and waterproofing without compromising breathability. In addition, the inner seams have been covered with cotton strips to prevent cold bridges.
A special 3D down chamber structure effectively counteracts cold spots. These chambers are filled with water-repellent, antibacterial 800+ fill power goose down combined with a far-infrared heat storage material. This can locally increase body temperature by up to 2.7 °C.
In areas of the body prone to perspiration, moisture-wicking fabrics are combined with IMBOTEX Antarctica padding insulation and additional ventilation openings. These accelerate the release of moisture beyond the insulation layer. The side zippers feature a ventilation design that significantly increases airflow when opened, thereby reducing condensation and ice formation. Together, all these elements form a breathable circulation system for the entire body. This system ensures that the body remains dry and comfortable during high-intensity outdoor work and frequent transitions between indoor and outdoor environments.
The product design has been consistently tailored to the practical needs of scientists. An integrated carrying system distributes the load to the hips during strenuous activity, and internal straps enable the suit to be quickly put on or taken off when transitioning between outdoor use and vehicle rotation. A round zipper at the back makes it easier to use the toilet. Abrasion-resistant zones made of recycled 200D Cordura protect the suit in high-stress areas over the long term.
The ergonomic design ensures unrestricted comfort even during dynamic movements such as climbing, lifting or kneeling — an essential requirement for working in hostile environments.
In addition to its extreme functionality, the polar suit also impresses with its sustainability concept: all materials have been selected for their environmental compatibility and durability. The PFC-free ePE membrane from Gore-Tex, RDS-certified down filling, and the use of 100% recycled Cordura show that high-performance clothing can also be designed with the environment in mind. Production takes place under strict ESG criteria in Bosideng's own manufacturing facility, which has been awarded an MSCI ESG rating of “A.” The sustainable product concept is rounded off by a lifetime repair service.

At the heart of the jacket is the new Polartec® AirCore™ material. Polartec® AirCore™ uses a proprietary polymer platform, used for the first time in outdoor clothing, to form a hydrophobic nanofiber membrane through precise electrospinning. The intrinsic water repellency of the polymer eliminates the need for PFAS while providing high durability and flexibility. The nanofiber architecture creates uniform pores that balance air permeability (0.4–1 CFM) and moisture permeability (>25,000 g/m²/24 h), providing optimal breathability and weather protection. The result is dryness and comfort from the inside out.
Thanks to its hydrophobic nanofiber membrane, Polartec® AirCore™ does not contain any intentionally added PFAS. In addition, the face and back of the fabrics are made from recycled materials that have been laminated with the nano membrane. This reduces the environmental impact.
Ultrasonically welded seams reduce bulk and chafing and ensure high flexibility, while 2-way stretch fleece inserts on the back, neck, sleeves, and hips improve flexibility and ventilation. In the dope-dyeing process, also known as solution dyeing, color pigments are added directly to the polymer solution during fiber spinning rather than being applied to the finished fabric. This eliminates the conventional, water-intensive dyeing process entirely. Compared to traditional dyeing methods for synthetic fibers, this technique reduces water consumption by 85 percent and chemical use by 90 percent. It also prevents wastewater containing dye residues or pollutants.
The quality of the product also benefits, as the colors are more fade-resistant, and the product retains its original appearance longer. To ensure optimal freedom of movement, the material is blended with 10 percent elastane.
The inner side of the fabric features an innovative texture that prevents the fabric from sticking to the skin when you sweat. The running jacket pattern is complemented by a 3D pattern design developed by Descente specifically for running. It is anatomically optimized to reduce friction around the shoulder blades and promote natural freedom of movement. Strategically placed ventilation zones on the back enhance air circulation and improve moisture management.
