The Haglöfs Spitz Down Hood is a stretchable down jacket designed for warmth in wet mountain conditions and with the high demands of mountaineering in mind. It has a high-tech baffle construction, as well as lots of climbing specific features.
The Haglöfs Spitz Down Hood was made for the rigors of mountaineering. “The big idea was to answer true climbers and mountaineers needs. Not only does this jacket offer a warm and reliable insulation with great stretch, but also high performance when it comes to water resistance. This jacket is the perfect companion on every adventurer's next challenge”, explains Caroline Auclair, Head of Product Management Apparel at Haglöfs.
Its tough and water-resistant two-way stretch outer fabric ensures you stay dry and warm even when the weather takes a turn for the worse: The Haglöfs Spitz Down Hood comes equipped with 800 CUIN fill power H DOWN Platinum, which is a hydrophobic goose down that can remain dry and keep its loft for up to 10,000 minutes when exposed to wet conditions. The down is RDS certified while the Nikwax DWR is PFAS(PFC)-free and the jacket made from 86 per cent recycled polyamide and 14 per cent elastane. The combination of both provides great durability, stretch and recovery and the weft stretch helps to enhance the wearer’s comfort, compared to a non-elastic traditional down proof style.
One of the standout features of this jacket is its high-tech baffle construction, designed to eliminate cold spots and maximize insulation. The pre-woven, seamless dynamic baffle pattern creates a barrier against the cold. Its customized »ROC« pattern creates evenly distributed warmth and body temperature. Unlike traditional embroidered garments, the seamless construction is less prone to water seepage and also locks in warmth better. The pre-baffle material is also down-proof by construction (using 20d yarns) which avoids the need for additional CIRE or PU coatings that can impact air permeability negatively. Overall, the Haglöfs Spitz Down Hood provides the ideal balance between protection and mobility, offering stretch and performance while maintaining water resistance, so it really convinced the ISPO Award Jury as it caters to all the needs of climbers and mountaineers in harsh conditions.
With its tough construction and excellent stretch, this jacket is as durable as it is functional, keeping the needs of climbers and mountaineers for an insulation layer in mind, that is even water-resistant. The Spitz Down Hood also offers great packability as it comes without lining. It features an adjustable helmet-compatible hood, ensuring that you can stay snug and secure even in the most challenging conditions. The minimalist slim fit design allows a great range of movement and large harness-compatible hand pockets are positioned strategically, give easy access to essential gear without exposing yourself to the cold. Additional adjustable features give the Spitz Down Hood just the right fit to move with you.
It comes in three different colour ways: Electric blue, habanero (which is a vibrant orange-red), and true black. And while the colour range is inclusively offered for both men’s and women’s models, the fit it not: women’s models are specifically tailored to the female body and morphology for an even better fit when climbing and mountaineering. Sizes range from XS to XXL in women’s and S to XXXL in men’s models.
The Mammut Haute Route ski touring helmet is the perfect solution for any modern-day adventurer, eager to embrace a variety of outdoor sports without compromising on safety and comfort. This triple-certified helmet is designed to meet the standards for skiing, mountaineering/climbing, and cycling, ensuring it's ideal for today's multi-sport enthusiasts.
The primary goal of the Mammut Haute Route helmet is to provide a versatile and highly ventilated solution for ski-tourers and outdoor enthusiasts. It's engineered to be so well-ventilated that you'll hardly notice you're wearing it, even on strenuous ascents. Additionally, some opted for climbing helmets instead of ski helmets, which offered suboptimal protection. The Mammut Haute Route helmet addresses all these concerns.
Mathias Heck, Senior Developer Hardware Climbing Gear at Mammut, explains the concept: "The Haute Route helmet is hands down the most sophisticated helmet we at Mammut have ever designed and developed. We are proud that the product reflects the amount of effort we put into this helmet. The integration of the ventilation system without compromising robustness or weight is innovative and has not been seen on any helmet before. We are eagerly looking forward to actually going skiing with it."

2. Advanced Cooling System: This helmet boasts an advanced cooling system with internal air channels and large vents, making it suitable for both uphill and downhill use. The front vents are strategically designed to minimize goggle fogging, ensuring clear visibility during your adventures.
3. Hybrid Construction: The helmet is built using a hybrid construction that combines a partial hard shell for durability and scratch protection with in-mold construction for lightness. The hybrid construction makes the helmet long lasting and lightweight at the same time and the comfort comes more from the shape and padding.
4. 360° Spherical Wheel Adjustment: Finding a comfortable and secure fit has never been easier, thanks to the 360° Spherical Wheel Adjustment System that is also height-adjustable.
5. Elastic Straps and Goggle Clips: Elastic straps and front clips allow you to attach your ski goggles or a headlamp, making it easy to carry all your essential gear.
6. Eco-Friendly Materials: The Mammut Haute Route helmet is designed with sustainability in mind. It is constructed from recycled EPS foam and features padding made from recycled PET, reducing its environmental footprint.

Stories we experience and things we discover along the way on the trail, big and small. Every hike, another moment we share, remember as we go through life. These are the good things that come to those who hike.
Of course, one thing is always with you: reliable hiking boots.
Whether in demanding trail passages, micro-adventures or the extended hiking round, new and old outdoor fans naturally do not want to go without function. On more than 50 million feet around the world, the Moab has been a reliable companion for many years and Merrell’s most popular hiking shoe in the brand's history. For the summer of 2024, the favourite shoe now gets an innovative update with the new Moab Speed 2 (Mid) GTX, which also won the ISPO Award. In addition to its stylish urban look for a hiking shoe and with new technologies included, the new model also manages the balancing act to become a functional multi-sport wonder. The fresh colour palette provides the cool touch.
The Moab Speed 2 (MID) Gore-Tex was especially developed for ambitious outdoor fans who want to be lighter and faster on the trail and at the same time don't want a shoe with a classic old school look on their feet. An innovative FloatPro midsole provides lightweight and durable cushioning, while a removable EVA insole provides extra comfort.
The outsole is made of the new Vibram TC5+ rubber specially developed for Merrell for a secure grip on all types of terrain. In addition, the new profile "Traction Lug" from Vibram gives the shoe more grip and better traction. A toe cap protects at the same time when used in rough terrain.
When it comes to cushioning and comfort while hiking, no compromise was made either, so the new Moab Speed comes with 30% more foam underfoot. Yet, it still retains its stability. The upper is made of recycled, breathable mesh lining and the Gore-Tex InvisibleFit construction provides reliable, lightweight yet breathable moisture protection.
The shoe is available in mid- and low-cut, depending on preference, and in a variety of colours for men and women. The RRPs are thereby at €170 (Moab Speed 2 Gore-Tex) and €185 (Moab Speed 2 Mid Gore-Tex).
For Fall/Winter 24, Merrell has a warmth upgrade up its sleeve: the Moab Speed 2 Thermo provides enough warmth for winter activities without being heavy and clunky, giving the same comfort as in summer. With sleek looks despite 200g PrimaLoft Gold Eco lining, the shoe looks athletic at the same time and keeps you nice and warm, especially in the toe area. The Thermo version of the Moab Speed 2 features the same award-winning lug design of the sole, with grippy 6mm lugs. The version of the sole without spikes uses Vibram Icetrek tuned to winter conditions, a slightly softer rubber. In addition, the Moab Speed 2 Thermo is also available with integrated spikes.
You can be just as sporty with the Moab Speed 2 Reflective, whose reflective elements have been integrated especially for the dark season. Because, especially in urban traffic, it is important in the twilight to be seen in time. Thus equipped with Gore-Tex, the shoe with stylishly woven, reflective elements defies wetness and bad weather and being overlooked. It also complements an outfit in a cool urban outdoor look. The Moab Speed 2 Reflective is available exclusively at selected retailers and via Merrell.com.
The main thing with both models is obvious: to enjoy the active outdoors even better in the cold season. Summer and winter alike, it's all about the special moments and positive memories we collect for eternity while hiking the trails.
The Suprabeam M6xr seamlessly combines the functionality of a flashlight, headlamp, and area light, making it an all-in-one tool to brighten up your outdoor activities. Whether you're hiking, camping, running, climbing, or working in the great outdoors, the Suprabeam M6xr offers multiple mounting options, allowing you to use it on your head, attach it to a helmet, hold it in your hand, clip it to your backpack, or secure it to a magnetic surface. The magnetic option especially comes in handy when using the powerful lamp for area lighting.
The M6xr's innovative ergonomic design also makes handling the light during different activities intuitive and easy. »The design itself is actually one of the key features of the M6xr, as it makes the multi-lamp truly multifunctional«, explains Finn Kjærgaard, Head of Product Development at Suprabeam. »To make the M6xr perform just as well as a flashlight as it does as a headlamp, we had to pay special attention to the size, weight, button placement, and headband mount. All those things together and the attention to detail is what makes it a true multi-lamp which performs excellently in all use scenarios.«
As it is a fine line to find the perfect balance in size for both flashlight and headlamp operation, the M6xr is spot on, being just 10.5 cm long and weighing 114g. The button placement is a key design feature as well, as the operation must be intuitive and easy both when using it handheld and on the head. When tested, both work just fine, allowing you to switch on and off or steplessly dim the light depending on the conditions.
The headband also comes with two silicone stripes on the inside, to stop it from moving around while you move around. Further, the mounts have been designed specifically for the M6xr and offer the perfect balance between a tight grip around the body of the light, whilst being mounted and dismounted easily. The headband mount is worth mentioning, as you can easily attach and detach the M6xr, without having to undo the straps at all. The mount has a finely calibrated size, making it grip firmly around the M6xr without making it hard to slide out.
The features all contribute to a product that is remarkably easy to operate, which makes it a reliable companion when facing challenging conditions outdoors, from cold to rain. Constructed from solid aluminum, the Suprabeam M6xr offers a quality feel, robustness, and is both dust- and waterproof up to two meters. It also offers sufficient cooling for its powerful LED. Compared to its tiny size, the small gadget adds a staggering brightness of 2000 lumens to your path and makes darkness no longer an obstacle for your outdoor activities. Thanks to its step-less dimming feature, you can effortlessly adjust the intensity to your specific needs, conserving power when necessary or flooding the area with light for maximum visibility.
The M6xr is not only “multi” in the sense that you can use it in so many different ways but also in so many different sports. It is the preferred weapon of choice for many people from ultra marathons, to ice climbing, to trail running, to cross-country skiing, to cycling, to climbing. This year, the M6xr was used in the Marathon Des Sables through the Sahara Desert and in the Grand Raid Des Pyrénées ultra race, among other events.
While its cutting-edge electronics make it more efficient than most other lights, the M6xr does not need frequent battery changes and also allows you to opt for either USB charging or batteries. Suprabeam M6xr is CR123 compatible and can be used with 2x CR123 disposable batteries, instead of the included rechargeable battery. However, when using the rechargeable battery included, the integrated USB charging port in the battery also allows you to charge one while using another in the M6xr, giving you virtually unlimited runtime. This not only saves time but also helps reduce waste by relying on a rechargeable power source with just a spare load waiting in your pocket. The M6xr is a product like nothing else, it will win you over completely when you try it, as it did with the ISPO Award jury.
In the age of the EU Green Deal and the Paris Agreement, we must intensify our climate protection efforts. The target is to limit global warming to 1.5° C compared to pre-industrial levels. Unfortunately, we're on track to hit this mark by the 2030s, possibly even sooner, according to recent reports. How quickly can we reduce carbon emissions from our industry? Here's a range of players, from climate protection service providers to low-carbon materials, to assist you on your journey.
Emissions mainly originate in the supply chain, especially during raw material extraction and the processing of products. To address decarbonization, measurement is the vital first step. Identifying emission hotspots, which vary significantly by product category like footwear, apparel, and equipment, is essential. Alongside measurement and climate protection projects, reduction is key. Sourcing low-carbon materials primarily from renewable sources is one way to go. These materials are often still blended with fossil fuel based raw materials for performance and durability, though efforts to reduce fossil-based content continue. Here are nine examples on how climate relevant emissions can be reduced effectively.
It’s time for the outdoor industry to realize its full potential and become a much-needed changemaker for a planet in balance. At this year’s ISPO, Icebug shifts focus from talking about how to make a smaller impact to talking about how to maximize your impact: by scaling best practice. Icebug’s Solar Rooftop Scaling Program is already up and running, with several brands joining to collaboratively decarbonize. Additionally, they have now partnered with FSC to invite other brands to source certified natural rubber from Thailand. Icebug CEO David Ekelund stated, ‘When we needed this, it was nowhere to be found, so we teamed up with FSC and made it happen. Now it is there for others to use.’
In May 2023, Globetrotter opened a truly unique store: The Re:Think Store in Bonn. The German outdoor retailer primarily used reclaimed materials for this project, sourcing them from both the previous tenant, an electronics market, and its own inventory. However, Globetrotter's goal was not only to create an innovative outdoor shop but also to quantify the environmental benefits of the project in terms of CO2 reduction and material conservation. To achieve this, the retailer enlisted the scientific expertise of Epea to monitor the project. Learn more about this initiative and its sustainability impact at the Sustainability Hub, ISPO Munich (Hall A1).
Algae is the fastest growing plant on Earth, and it is a vital component of aquatic ecosystems. However, the rise in global temperatures, excess nutrient runoff, and human activities have contributed to an uncontrollable rise in algae growth in ecosystems around the world. Bloom decided to utilizing excess algae biomass harvested from ecosystems in need of algae management, and created foams and rubbers across multiple industries including footwear, outdoor, and accessories. By implementing algae biomass into performance products Bloom has created a strong market and efficient supply chain for algae as a sustainable resource, all the while helping create and maintain healthy ecosystems.
Modern Meadow produces game-changing technology based on plant protein fermentation.
