Among his many exploits, Mr. Klopp was the founder of The North Face, where he served as President and CEO for 20 years. During that time The North Face was honored with many awards for being the best managed company in its industry, including being lauded by Business Week Magazine for providing one of the highest quality products of any company in the United States. Mr. Klopp led The North Face to its position as the largest and most technically advanced company in its industry and one of the largest privately held companies in the San Francisco East Bay.
Adventurer and executive, Hap Klopp has run numerous companies and spoken around the world on adventuring, leadership, entrepreneurship and the human side of management. A highly sought after speaker who recently has given speeches at NASDAQ and numerous U.S. universities. He has also presented in Europe, Asia and South America. Among other achievements, he established the mountaineering and backpacking industry through the development of his company, The North Face, and along the way was highlighted on national television and in such US publications as BusinessWeek, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, and Success Magazine. He has published numerous articles in publications around the globe.
After selling his highly successful company, he began an international management consulting firm, HK Consulting, in Berkeley, CA. He presently advises and is on the board of two entrepreneurial companies: REVIV.me a Manchester & Dubai based health care company specializing in Genetic Testing, IV Drip Therapy and Supplements; and, the Spora Biotech company a leading Chilean based ESG leader producing a replacement for leather using mycelium from the jungles of the Amazon and wilds of Patagonia. He has simultaneously invested in and participated in the development of a number of entrepreneurial ventures.
Mr. Klopp is an adjunct instructor at a number of prestigious U.S. Universities including U.C. Berkeley and Hult International Business School and is involved in a research project on the Future of Work—which he shares with the world through his monthly Master Classes and Podcasts all outlined in the Amigos-3.com website. Simultaneously he has written two highly acclaimed books on leadership: Conquering: The North Face, an Adventure in Leadership, and Almost—12 electric months chasing a Silicon Valley dream, available in e-book, hard cover and paperback formats. He combines all of this with his ongoing sporting and adventuring activities and lots of recreational time with his family.
