Sport is more than just competition - it reflects our society and drives change. More and more athletes are using their stage to stand up for diversity, acceptance and mental health. This article presents 17 role models from different sports who encourage the LGBTQ+ community and show how openness makes sport more human.

Sport changes societies - and openness is the key. Julian Nagelsmann put it in a nutshell at ISPO 2024: "It is a very important point that you are allowed to be who you are." At ISPO 2025 from 30 NOV. - 02. DEC. there will also be inspiring highlight speakers who will focus on diversity and mental health in sport.
