Winner of the ISPO Award 2024: The mey PRFRMNC+ base layer from mey

The mey PRFRMNC+ base layer from underwear specialist mey combines two innovative fabric compositions in the front and back of the garment. It has been specially designed for wearing backpacks or avalanche packs.

With the mey PRFRMNC+ base layer, German underwear specialist mey has developed an innovative piece of sportswear that is perfect for all fall/winter sports and especially for those that require the use of a rucksack or avalanche backpack. The base layer is part of the new mey PRFRMNC+ collection.


Microloops in the “backpack zone”

The PRFRMNC+ base layer from mey combines two different material compositions in the front and back that meet different performance requirements. The so-called "backpack zone" is particularly innovative. The special knitted construction of the backpack zone fabric contains microloops with outstanding moisture management. Thanks to the capillary effect, the material can quickly wick moisture away from the skin to the outside and absorb 2.7 times its own weight in moisture without feeling wet. Once wrung out, the product can immediately absorb the same amount of moisture again. This effectively prevents chilling, especially during breaks. The skin always feels dry, even when sweating profusely.

Thanks to a carefully balanced mix of 48% virgin wool, 48% polyester and 4% elastane, the base layer feels particularly comfortable against the skin.



Made in Germany

Other performance features include extra-flat seams, a sporty color selection and an anatomical cut. The functional underwear is certified according to the Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex. 

The base layer is manufactured in Europe, while the fabric developed by mey is produced at the headquarters in Germany. Assembly takes place in mey's own factory in Portugal. To save CO2, mey ensures short transport routes. 

The mey PRFRMNC+ base layer is available in men's and women's versions and is available here from October 2024.
