With the next version of the Agility Peak, Merrell is taking the path more consistently than ever before. Comfort meets tactility and contemporary design.

Contemporary trail running shoe with versatile options

With this update, the Agility Peak enters its fifth version. The shoe relies on proven elements, without forgetting the innovative character. The ultra trail running shoe has become an absolute top shoe that supports the current trend of fast hiking in addition to its running performance on the trails of this world. The design of the shoe meets the current zeitgeist of a trail shoe that, in addition to its actual purpose as a running shoe, must increasingly prove itself in the hybrid area between running and sporty, fast hiking. In addition to other features such as a robust construction despite its light weight, this was worthy of an award in the eyes of the jury.

Nathan Buelow, Senior Brand Manager Merrell, was delighted when the news of the win reached him: “This award is an incredible honor. As Merrell continues to expand our trail run line, it is great to be recognized with the most incredible products in the outdoor industry. The new Agility Peak 5 is our latest advancement with maximum cushion midsole while keeping our runners connected to the trail. We know our trail runners need traction, and with Vibram Megagrip underfoot with traction lugs, it‘s never a concern. We are thrilled to see the growth in participation in trail running and with the introduction of the Agility Peak 5, we are looking to introduce even more runners to the trail. With a Gore-Tex version as an option, this shoe is ready for wet or dry conditions.”

Cushioning shoe with excellent stability and grip

Comfort is a priority in the Agility Peak 5. This is supported by a more contemporary increase in the midsole and the accompanying better cushioning of the shoe. The weight of the shoe remains low thanks to the lightweight FloatPro Foam. Things also get interesting with the outsole. It has been constructed in such a way that the agile shoe experiences maximum grip and also knows how to shine with tactile properties. This allows to run through uneven terrain with great stability. Additional stability is provided by an extra sling on the heel, which is additionally fixed. All together results in a perfect trail running shoe for a safe and perfect performance in the mountains and on all other uneven surfaces.

The Agility Peak 5 is targeted at runners looking for a maximum cushion experience without sacrificing the traction and connection to the trail that they have come to expect from Merrell. The Agility Peak 5 offers 50mm of cushion and comfort for rugged terrain mile after mile. Other features clearly show the next stage of development. The rocker construction has been increased and the weight reduced to less than 300 grams. Gore-Tex ensures the usual good, waterproof functionality and breathability. The high protective edge along the entire shoe is also striking. This additional protection of the mesh upper will certainly have an impact on the durability of the Agility Peak 5.

Pro athletes support development team

Merrell leaves nothing to chance in its new developments, and draws from the full feedback chain of the development process. For example, the Merrell trail team is an integral part of all testing and design and has continuously contributed critical feedback on design and performance during training runs and races in the Skyrunning world championship. This has been brought together with further scientific research in the lab to produce the best possible results. The Merrell brand also always pays attention to the most sustainable approach possible. This applies to the Agility Peak 5, which has a recycled mesh lining, a recycled mesh footbed and a 50% recycled, non-removable EVA foam footbed.

The result: a trail running shoe that performs comfortably and securely on both short and long distances. One additional plus point plays into Merrell's cards: the area of maximum cushioning in trail running is one of the fastest growing segments. Customers now have an award-winning option from Merrell.
