The new 50-liter MT900 Ultra-Light Backpack from Simond impresses with its high-performance construction and European production. It was developed especially for demanding hikers who value low weight, high comfort, and reliable quality.

Focus on comfort and durability

Weighing only 880 grams, this trekking backpack is one of the lightest in its category. Its excellent balance of weight and function sets it apart. While many ultralight models sacrifice comfort for weight, Simond offers a curved, well-ventilated, and individually adjustable back system. The shoulder straps and hip belt are made with double-density foam to ensure stability and comfort, even on long tours.

Its practicality has been proven in both the laboratory and under extreme conditions. In the so-called jerk test, the model was subjected to 10,000 simulated falls. It was also carried on the 4,240-kilometer (2,630-mile) Pacific Crest Trail, gaining over 150,000 meters (497,000 feet) of elevation — a challenge that only mature products can withstand.

The materials used have been carefully selected. Simond uses lightweight, abrasion-resistant, breathable, and water-repellent 100D ripstop polyamide fabric for all areas. The goal was to stay below 150 g/m² (128 g/m²) to use a single fabric for the entire backpack, achieving the optimal balance of strength, weight, and flexibility for the pockets.

Production in the Czech Republic

The backpack is manufactured in the Czech Republic – a deliberate decision to ensure seamless collaboration with their production partners and to uphold the high European standards for fair and ethical working conditions.

High-quality, durable materials also help to ensure that the product remains ready for use for many years to come. The reduced use of materials thanks to the uniform fabric not only reduces the weight, but also the consumption of resources.

What convinced the jury:

  • Low weight of 880 grams in the trekking backpack category
  • High wearing comfort thanks to low weight and well-equipped carrying system
  • Functionality and durability confirmed by tests
  • Manufactured in the Czech Republic
