Marlon Patrice is the Editor of VANISH Outdoors Magazine, bringing a distinctive editorial vision to the intersection of outdoor culture, adventure, identity, and representation. Through purposeful storytelling, creative direction, and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices, he champions a more inclusive and authentic narrative of what it means to experience the outdoors.
As an editor, Marlon is passionate about shaping conversations, uncovering compelling stories, and showcasing the people, communities, and perspectives transforming the outdoor landscape. His approach challenges conventional narratives within outdoor media, creates space for voices too often overlooked, and explores the deeper connections between nature, wellbeing, culture, and belonging.
Drawing on his experience as a Birmingham-based ultra-runner, hiker, community activist, and founder of We Go Outside Too (WGO2), a Community Interest Company dedicated to making the British countryside more accessible to Black communities and underrepresented groups, Marlon brings a lived-experience perspective to his editorial leadership. His work extends beyond documenting outdoor adventures; it explores how outdoor stories are told, who gets to tell them, and whose experiences deserve to be seen and heard.
Alongside his editorial and community work, Marlon is also a children’s book author, using storytelling to inspire younger generations to connect with nature, embrace adventure, and discover the power of the outdoors. Across publishing, community engagement, and creative projects, he is passionate about making outdoor experiences more accessible, relatable, and representative of the world we live in.
Through VANISH Outdoors Magazine, Marlon is committed to pushing the boundaries of outdoor publishing, championing fresh perspectives, and helping shape a richer, more diverse outdoor media landscape one that reflects the full spectrum of people who find freedom, connection, challenge, and healing in nature.
