Equipment

  • camping stove and frying pan
  • small cutting board
  • sharp knife
  • stainless steel, titanium or bamboo plates
  • spoons or forks

Ingredients for 2 people

  • 10 small ripe plums
  • 1 cup of oatmeal
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • juice of ½ lemon
  • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (transfer to a small spill-proof bottle)
  • 6-8 ripe blackberries

Optional

  • sweet raspberry or strawberry balsamic vinegar
  • wild alpine strawberries, blueberries or raspberries

Preparation

Before setting out

  1. Mix the oatmeal, lemon zest and sugar and place in a leak-proof container.
  2. Place the prunes and lemon (with zest, but leave whole) in a silicone bag.

In the camp

  1. Cut the plums in half and boil them down.
  2. To do this, light the stove, turn to medium and place pan on top.
  3. When hot, place the plums in the pan, flesh side down.
  4. Sauté lightly for 1-2 minutes, then turn over.
  5. Cook for another minute, then add the olive oil and lemon juice.
  6. Cook for another 30 seconds, then add the oatmeal mixture.
  7. Mix well, making sure the oatmeal is well toasted.
  8. Arrange on plates and garnish with blackberries or other edible wild berries.
