ISPO Munich 2019: Highlights on the Opening Day

2943 exhibitors in 18 halls from 89 countries - the world's largest sports business fair opens its doors. On the first day, ISPO Munich 2019 attracts visitors with exciting events like the presentation of the EOG Market Research or performances of sports stars like Britta Steffen, David Lama or Bode Miller. We give an overview of the most important events on the opening Sunday.

Here we go - ISPO Munich 2019 has opened its doors! "We are looking forward to a record trade fair," says Klaus Dittrich, Chairman of the Board of Management of Messe München GmbH.  "Sustainability, individualization and digitalization are the leading topics at ISPO Munich," says Dittrich. For the first time, gaming will also have its own area in Hall C6. "eSports is the sport of the digital generation," says the trade fair CEO. "We are showing the sports industry and, above all, retailers the opportunities this presents."

On the opening day, visitors can expect to meet a number of sports stars. The first will be the mountaineering professionals David Lama and Hilaree Nelson. From 9.30 a.m., the duo can be seen at a North Face press conference at Stand 2.02 in Hall A1. If you have a soft spot for darts, you can meet the most prominent German arrow expert Max Hopp and Martin Schindler (Hall C6, Stand 211) between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Focus on Digitalization

Visitors can meet Britta Steffen, once the fastest swimmer in the world, twice on Sunday. The Olympic champion and former world champion will be a guest on the health and fitness stage in Hall A6 from 1.30 p.m., and from 3 p.m. she will be speaking about her life and her next projects in the Watersports area (Hall A4, Stand 4.50). Also on Sunday, the US ski legend Bode Miller will be visiting ISPO Munich (Hall B1 Stand 312).

On all four days of the fair, the ISPO Academy Stage in Hall C6 will feature exciting presentations on sports business. The topic of digitalization will be in focus. In the same hall at 10 a.m., the Blogger and Influencer Lounge will open its doors, starting with a Blogger Fashion Walk. The Experts4Women tour, which starts at 3 p.m. at the Women's Lounge in Hall A1, leads to manufacturers who present their collections for women. Manufacturers interested in women as a target group will find numerous events in the programme of the "ISPO Munich Womens Lounge powered by Frauen verbinden".

Insights into the Future of the Sports Business

During the presentation of EOG Market Research (2:30 p.m. in conference room B32), visitors can gain insights into the current situation of the sports business and its future. The best products of the sports industry will be awarded with the ISPO Award throughout the day in different categories in the ISPO Brandnew Village (Hall B4, Stand 430). To end the first day at ISPO Munich 2019 properly, the ISPO Brandnew Party will be on the agenda at the same location from 5.30 p.m.
