The Chinese online business is booming. Many European and US (sports) brands, above all Nike and Adidas, are counting on growing sales in China. The biggest sales drivers for the sports brands in e-commerce are shopping platforms. First of all Tmall, the portal belongs to the Alibaba group.

China is by far the largest e-commerce market with revenues of approximately $682 billion in 2017, according to the E-Commerce Foundation. On Singles Day 2017 (11.11.), which is comparable to Black Friday, Nike alone is said to have generated online sales of around 150 million US dollars in China in 2017.
