From 29 June to 6 July 2019 in Munich and the surrounding region

OutDays 2019: The Festival for Outdoor Culture

This summer, Europe's largest outdoor trade fair OutDoor by ISPO took place for the first time in Munich. The OutDays took place from 29th June to 6th July 2019 to ensure that all outdoor fans who are not trade visitors also benefited from it. The event series enabled end consumers to participate in highlights ranging from after-work bike sessions to open-air mountain film evenings and a Bivouac Camp on the Hintertux glacier.

OutDays 2019 - Icecold Midsummer Night

With the OutDays, the OutDoor by ISPO team brought the lifestyle and dynamism of OutDoor by ISPO to the Munich metropolitan region and beyond for one week. The "Priceless Moments" especially stood out.

OutDays Campervan Challenge

During the OutDays Campervan Challenge, four teams drove through the mountains in Hymercar campervans from 28th June to 1st July and collected as many outdoor experiences as possible on their road trips while camping, hiking, climbing, SUP or biking. On Monday evening, the teams returned to the exhibition center and shared their adventures. Under the Hashtag #OutDaysCampervan on Instagram you can see what they experienced during the four days.

OutDays HamburgHero Challenge

The winners of the OutDays HamburgHero Challenge were on the road a little longer and at the other end of the country. Together with Globetrotter, Ahoi Bullis and Walden Magazine, we had searched for eight teams who would go on a week-long outdoor adventure quest in a VW T6 California campervan. If you want to get an impression of their experiences, look on Instagram for the Hashtag #HamburgHeroChallenge.

Tim Leatherman signs your tool!

On Saturday, 29 June, Tim Leatherman, the inventor of the multitool with the same name, was at the Globetrotter in Munich to sign Leathermans brought along and newly purchased. About 120 visitors came to have their signatures engraved, some even with several multitools. Tim Leatherman was delighted with the crowds and the stories he heard. In addition, Leatherman had set up a multi-purpose test station, where the visitors had to solve four tasks - screwing, turning, sawing and cutting - using the multi-tool on a temporary basis and could win high-quality prizes. After his successful appearance in the city centre, Tim Leatherman gave another "autograph session" the following Sunday at OutDoor by ISPO for all visitors who brought a multitool with them.

Augumented Reality Climbing with ValoMotion

Also at Globetrotter, on the 29th of June, the first of three days took place, during which you could try your hand at "Augmented Reality Climbing" on the climbing wall of ValoMotion, either individually or in pairs. The electronically controlled wall, which combines gaming with climbing, stood directly at the entrance of the store until Tuesday, July 2. Whether it's smashing asteroids, catching bats or playing ping-pong - the Valo Motion climbing wall provided a playful workout.

OutDays & Outdoor against Cancer NightHike Munich

100 people had registered, but due to the still extremely high temperatures of 35° C on the 30th of June at 7 p.m. around 50 participants finally joined the evening hike along the Isar. Together with the founder of Outdoor against Cancer (OaC), Petra Thaller, the sports scientist Thorsten Schulz and the OutDays, they walked about 8 km from the zoo to the Großhesseloher bridge. Helpful tips for risk minimisation, discussions between those affected and those not affected and a wonderful hike made the first NightHike a great success, which prompted OaC to organise further events in Germany and Austria in autumn to take people into nature around their city.

OutDays & BOFF Film Open Air with Robert Jasper

After the first OutDays Open Air cinema night on Monday with Reel Rock suffered from the sudden storm in Munich, the sky spoiled the second evening in the cinema at the Olympic lake with perfect summer temperatures. More than 400 outdoor enthusiasts found their way to the Olympic Park on Tuesday for the Open Air Screening of the Bavarian Outdoor Film Festival BOFF and were inspired by adventurer Andi Prielmaier, filmmaker Tom Dauer and author Sandra Freudenberg. As a prominent guest and with his own film ("ALLEIN"), Robert Jasper, a professional climber who had sent a personal invitation to the BOFF directly from the north face of the Eiger just a few days before, was also there. The mountain bike professional Gerhard Senfter also spontaneously found his way to the open-air cinema and mingled with the audience, who cheered on every single film of the festival.

OutDays & ION biking on the Isartrails and screwdriver workshop

On the 2nd of July ION Bike and the team riders Julia Hofmann and Rob Heran went on the Munich Isartrails and afterwards to the screwing course in The Sync. Workshop at the Kirchenstraße. For some participants of the fully booked event there was a lot to learn, for others it was simply fun to be on the trails with two professionals and a group of peers after work.

OutDays Sunset Hike // Never Stop Munich by The North Face

On July 3rd, more than 50 outdoor enthusiasts took the opportunity to join The North Face, the Never Stop Munich Community and the OutDays on an evening mountain tour to the Hörnle summit near Unterammergau. Together we went by bus from the TNF Store in Sendlinger Straße into the mountains. Just in time for dusk, the group finally arrived at the summit and could experience a great sunset thanks to perfect weather. With headlamps they went back to the valley and then back to the city.

Running and Trailrunning Shoe test with On

Perfect weather, the best atmosphere and great equipment: On the evening of the 3rd July, the Keller Sports Store Munich and On Running went to the Isar to try out the latest running shoes. The running-enthusiastic team tested the CloudVenture trail running shoe as well as the street models CloudSwift, CloudFlyer, CloudX, CloudFlow and CloudAce during an interval training session of eight kilometres under the guidance of the professionals from On and Keller Sports.

OutDoor by ISPO After Work MTB Ride at the Samerberg

July 4th could not have been more perfect for the After Work MTB Ride in the Bikepark Samerberg. Together with the adidas Five Ten team rider Tina Lang, the participants enjoyed the extended opening hours of the lift and the park especially for the OutDays. adidas Five Ten brought lots of bike shoes that could be put through their paces. The warm summer evening was followed by a barbecue and cool drinks.

Meet & Greet with Mammut athlete Tom Belz

At the age of eight, Tom Belz fell ill with bone cancer and lost his left leg despite prolonged chemotherapy. When he was twelve, he decided to lead a normal life without a prosthesis and to prove to himself and the world through sport that you can achieve anything if you want to. Tom showed this impressively on 6 July in the Keller Sports Store at Meet & Greet and with the film "Mbuzi Dume - Strong Goat", a documentary about his ascent of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in August 2018. A great performance, a great motivation for everyone and pictures that get under your skin.

OutDays Icecold Midsummer Night

From the 5th to the 6th of July, the OutDays Icecold Midsummer Night took place on the Hintertux Glacier in Tyrol, where 16 adventurers spent a night together with a mountain guide in the bivouac camp at an altitude of around 3,000 metres. For some of the participants this was a completely new experience, which will be remembered for a long time thanks to perfect conditions.
