Biosynthetics: Circularity, Recycling, & Future Outlooks

What are biosynthetics? What are the major roadblocks to their implementation? How sustainable are they, really? Does it matter where the bio-based feedstock comes from? And, are biosynthetics in competition with recycled synthetics or are they complementary strategies? In this talk, Dr. Ashley Holding will unpack the topic of biosynthetics and address some of these questions and more, as well as exploring what the future holds for biosynthetics. Particularly, the potential for a circular ecosystem based on biosynthetics will be discussed, introducing learnings from a recent biosynthetic fibre recycling project.
