Globetrotter Creates New Position of COO and Appoints New Marketing Director

Outdoor chain Globetrotter now has a Chief Operating Officer (COO) in its team: Johannes Jurecka has been working in this newly created position since July 2017. In addition, Matthias Schwarte has been recruited as the new Marketing Director.

With the new role of COO, Johannes Jurecka will provide support in the areas of e-commerce, marketing and stationary trade. The 39-year-old from Bergisch Gladbach was previously employed in the Foot Locker Europe head office in Recklinghausen. As Operations Manager, he was responsible for the operative business of 220 Runners Point and Sidestep branches. 


Matthias Schwarte takes on the post of Marketing Director from September 1. He succeeds Torsten Fischer, who decided to leave Globetrotter in fall 2016. The 37-year-old media scientist Schwarte was an employee at ECCO from 2010 onwards, where he was initially responsible for the sports segment at the company’s head office in Denmark. From 2014 onwards, he took on responsibility for the overall marketing of the DACH region. 

Globetrotter Ausrüstung is one of the largest outdoor retailers in Europe. The company operates branches in Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart and Ulm, as well as outlet stores in Bonn and Metzingen.
