The exclusive process ensures that the products selected by the jury are the top of their game, marked on innovation, performance, creativity and sustainability. The jury meeting, which took place in November, is a lively event of discussion and sharing information as to how the textile industry is moving.
With nine sectors judged, including base layers, second layers, outer layers, trims and insulation, a ‘BEST PRODUCT’ label is given to each category, followed by the Top 10 and then the additional selected companies, receiving the prestigious ISPO TEXTRENDS mark.
All products selected during the jury meeting will be on display in Hall C3, in a newly designed forum. This unique platform has become a pinnacle of the textile industry and a must-stop for designers and brand developers visiting ISPO MUNICH.
Tactility And Visual Appeal
Reflective function and decorative appeal was the focus for the BEST PRODUCT to UAB "3T - Transfers technologies for textile" in the ACCESSORIES sector, combined with the added benefits of eco-friendly, lightweight and bi-stretch.
This product offers a perfect opportunity to brands for creating designs with high visibility or messages, with this innovative reflective material flashes in the dark. But it isn’t just the visual appeal that counts, but also through the structure, delivering sensual touch.
A similar direction to visual appeal was taken by a reflective TPU lamination from Yaw Liamy, winning the SOFT EQUIPMENT category. Applied to a 300 denier polyester weave, this reflective finishing combined with the tenacity of the base fabrics made for a perfect product for backpacks and shoes.
The interest in reflectivity as a safety aspect for the industry also featured in JRC Reflex, a 100% polyester with a retro reflective 3D design applied to the surface. The softness of the fabric combined with this new level of reflectivity paves the way for new final products, much more flexible to use during precept manufacturing.
Retroflection also featured in the TRIMS section, with a 100% nylon embroidery thread that has a polymer coating to bind the reflective glass beads to it from Gunold, winning the top position. The unique thread is perfect for brands looking to differentiate through embroidery techniques as well as delivering the safety element of reflectivity in a permanent form.
A New Sensuality Through Touch
In the BASE LAYER category Invista’s CORDURA® Nylon 6.6, high tenacity yarn was blended with polyester and Lycra® for a lightweight jersey that is abrasion resistant part of the durable Cordura® 4EVER fabrics, designed to last.
In SECOND LAYER, it was a 94% polyester, 6% spandex double knit from the Sheico Group that took centre stage. Bluesign® approved, the unique grooved surface creates a special pattern and gives it a neoprene-like touch as well as an interesting optical bi-color effect.
A nod to multi-function was the attraction of the BEST PRODUCT from the OUTER LAYER selection submitted by Event Fabrics with a 73% polyester, 27% polyurethane blend in a jersey knit.
Complete with a DWR treatment, this fabric, lightweight, thermal regulating, breathable and windproof, with double sided construction, is very light with a soft warm hand feel, and ticked all the boxes for complete protection to the wearer in the outer layer market.
Hybridization In Insulation And Membranes
An essential ingredient for the winter market, the latest insulation products are becoming lighter with added function, taking a strong emphasis on hybridization.
With a range of natural down and synthetic products to judge, the jury concluded that the BEST PRODUCT should be given to Ziran Non-Woven Co., Ltd/FELLEX in the insulation category for a 60% polyester and 40% kapok quality, that offers thermal regulating as well as being breathable, eco-friendly and organic.
A hybrid approach was also taken in the MEMBRANES category, with a tech-leather look product submitted by Everest. Taking an integrated approach to manufacturing, the hydrolysis-resistant membrane is lightweight, abrasion-resistant and waterproof, confirming the continuing trend for fashion and functionality.
