There's no such thing as too much good news! Especially from the sport. That's why we serve seven news every week that make the sportsman's heart beat faster. News, which are trend-setting, point out new tendencies or simply make joy. This time with athletes and projects that are committed to environmental protection and peace, and a change of heart at the coach of FC Bayern Munich, which has serious consequences.

Fair Cotton Initiative: From the Field to the Fanshop

And once again we say: Olé, VfB! Stuttgart's Bundesliga soccer team continues to show fairness at it's best. In the production of its fan textiles, the club already relies on Fairtrade textile standards - the initiative "From the field to the fan store" goes one step further. In addition to VfB Stuttgart, six other soccer clubs from the Bundesliga and 2nd division are taking part: 1. FC Union Berlin, Arminia Bielefeld, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg. Together, smallholders of a cotton cooperative in India will be supported over the next three years in the conversion to the cultivation of organic cotton among other things, through purchase guarantees as well as training in sustainable cultivation practices or access to improved seeds.

Arctic Bike Tour on Snow and Ice for More Climate Protection

4000 kilometers far and 33,000 meters of altitude through snow and ice: The Italian extreme biker Omar di Felice has finished his crazy tour through the Arctic. "I'm exhausted, but very happy," writes the 40-year-old on Instagram - 66º33' north of the Arctic Circle. In early February, he had started in Kamchatka, Russia, on his bike to raise awareness about climate change under the slogan "Bike to 1.5°C."

Lucky Number Six: 16-Year-Old Japanese Sets Record with Backside 2160

In Crans-Montana in Switzerland, the only 16-year-old Japanese Hiroto Ogiwara wrote snowboard history. At the freestyle event "The Nines," he became the first snowboarder in the world to manage a full six rotations around his own axis. With this backside 2160 he lands a new world record. And a world premiere in the women's category as well: 20-year-old Japanese Reira Iwabuchi also makes history when she becomes the first female snowboarder to land a Frontside Triple 1260. The three and a half somersault she stands thereby not only as the first woman, but also sovereign like no other participant in the session.

Tiger Woods Plays Badly, but Still Celebrates

14 months after his serious car accident, golf icon Tiger Woods let himself be celebrated again at the Masters in Augusta. On this very lawn Woods made his debut in 1997 as a 21-year-old and secured the victory right then as the first black, and also the youngest Masters winner in history. In February 2021, he had a serious accident with a car in Los Angeles and suffered several leg injuries. That Woods at this year's golf tournament therefore far abgeschlagen came to the finish, did not diminish the jubilation of his fans.

Symbolic Act of Swimming in Blood Red Water

A bloodbath as sign against the Ukraine war: In Vilnius, Lithuania, activists* have dyed the pond in front of the Russian embassy blood red. To support the protest and thus call for action against the Russian attacks, 25-year-old Olympic champion Rita Meilutyte swam through the waters as part of the "Swimming Through" art action. The Lithuanian had won the Olympic gold medal for her best performance in the 100-meter breaststroke in London in 2012 at the age of 15.

Julian Nagelsmann is now a Vegetarian

This news particularly delights us: FCB coach Julian "Hacki" Nagelsmann has announced that he no longer eats creatures that have eyes. He now eats vegetarian. This probably also begins the search for a new nickname, as the fact that he's called "Hacki" by his coaching staff is thanks to his now-secure love of meatloaf - but we've still dug out the recipe for you guys and he himself could now also imagine "Erbsi" as a new nickname, he joked in the interview.

#GetActiveForUkraine: Every Kilometer Counts - Donation Challenge

The European platform Outdooractive has launched a one-month fundraising campaign for Ukraine (runs until May 4): For every 100,000 kilometers collected by the community, 1,000 euros are donated to Ukraine. Anyone can take part - to date, over 1,200 members of the community have already registered. Every support, every euro and therefore every kilometer helps the war-torn country. The idea is to get out into nature together as a community and help Ukraine. Whether it's hiking, biking, running or any other outdoor activity.
