We think: Every now and then you need good news. Especially from the world of sports. In our Good News we serve you seven news every week that make our - and hopefully your - sports heart beat faster. Because the news is fun. Because they are trend-setting. Because they show new trends. Because they sprinkle a pinch of absurdity in a much too serious world. Or because they simply bring joy. The main thing is to be in a good mood, that's our motto in this news format. And we'll get right to it. With a UEFA fighting for the climate, intrepid demonstrators and the Berlin Wagner brothers in the USA. And the first female president of Austria as a skiing nation.

01

Uefa Will Switch off the Lights

Will UEFA soon have the floodlights switched off? Together with the EU Commission, the football association has launched a climate campaign to encourage Europeans to do more to protect the climate. Don't leave the fridge open, turn off unneeded lights and switch off electrical appliances are the tips that are supposed to provide everyday help under the title "EveryTrickCounts". We think that's good and close - but we're curious to see what will become of the floodlit games in the long run...

02

Neureuther for Kids

Of course, as a father of two, slalom legend Felix Neureuther now also thinks from a father's perspective. The former world-class skier has got involved in the campaign "Lust auf eine bewegte Zukunft" campaign of the Bavarian State Sports Association and the Bavarian Sports Youth. The aim is to win boys and girls back for sports clubs - the Corona pandemic saw the greatest loss of members in this age group. The project with Neureuther is to be presented next year at the European Championships of top-class sport in Munich. Then, hopefully, kids outside of Bavaria can also be addressed.

03

The Longest Chess Championship Is Over

Chess sportsmen know about slowness - but this good thing really wanted to take a long time. Only after one year, 10 months and 25 days the current Bundesliga season came to an end. It was - due to corona, of course - the longest season longest season, since there are team championships in Germany. The title was won for the fourth time in a row by OSG Baden-Baden, which is now the record champion with 15 titles. There's not much time to rest - the new series starts in January.

04

Wagner Brothers on Orlando Adventure

Wagner brothers instead of Wagner pizza: In the USA, two German basketball brothers now want to stir up the NBA together. Moritz and Franz Wagner are both playing together for the Orlando Magic this season. After the 24-year-old Moritz already has three stations with NBA clubs behind him, the two Berliners now landed together in Orlando. There is no envy between the brothers: "Of course I am very happy when Moritz scores 50 points. And I think he's just as happy the other way around," says 20-year-old Franz.

05

Undaunted Demonstrators

Kudos to the intrepid: On the sidelines of the ceremony to light the Olympic flame, something happened in Greece that is no longer possible in China without the threat of long imprisonment. Three brave demonstrators protested against the awarding of the Winter Games to Beijing. They carried a placard saying "No Genocide Games" and criticised the human rights situation in Tibet and Hong Kong. We think it is important that human rights violations are at least still pointed out. The Greek police also took action against the demonstrators. But unlike in China, they will soon be free again.

06

Mikaela Wants Everything!

You can't get more ambitious than this: Ski star Mikaela Shiffrin wants to take advantage of the form of her life. At the Winter Olympics, the 2014 and 2018 Olympic champion wants to clear everything she can. "I'm already dreaming of competing in every discipline in China," says the exceptional athlete. We're keeping our fingers crossed for the 26-year-old!

07

First Female President for Ski Nation Austria

A woman conquers a male bastion: For the first time there is a female president of the ski association in the skiing nation of Austria, Roswitha Stadlober. 22 men were her predecessors - but the former ski racer does not have to fear being ridiculed now. The 58-year-old from Salzburg was elected unanimously, and she has also been a member of the ÖSV presidium for ten years. Her goals are big: Stadlober wants to lead the association "into a new age".
