We think: Every now and then it needs good news. Especially from sports. In our Good News we serve you every week seven news that make our - and hopefully your - sports heart beat faster. Because the news is fun. Because they are trend-setting. Because they show new trends. Because they sprinkle a pinch of absurdity in a much too serious world. Or because they simply bring joy. The main thing is to be in a good mood - that's our motto in this news format. And we get started right away. With the historic rise of FC South Tyrol, compostable sneakers and a sports bar that celebrates women's sports.

The Sports Bra - Women's Sports for All

The name "The Sports Bra" for a sports bar is actually Good News in itself. But when you enter the bar, which opened in Portland on April 01, one thing in particular stands out: Only women's sports are on the five screens. Or they are switched off completely. Because only a fraction of all matches involving female clubs are actually broadcast. Jenny Nguyen thought this had to change and founded "The Sports Bra. Drinks inspired by female athletes and photos on the walls are also intended to ensure that women's sports get more attention. It's just too bad that "The Sports Bra" isn't just around the corner.

From Zero to Hero

How Remco Evenepoel won the cycling classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège by 48 seconds was really impressive. And the fact that this puts three Belgians on the podium is not an everyday occurrence either. Evenepoel, however, commented on this fact quite soberly: "The fact that there are three of us on the podium as Belgians is nice, but for me what counts most is that I won," the 22-year-old told Eurosport. But who could blame him after his serious crash at the 2020 Tour of Lombardy, which he says took a toll on him both physically and psychologically? Congratulations, Remco, the victory you have really earned.

Get off the Sofa With step4help

During corona season, most of us are a little rusty. Particularly fatal is the pandemic lack of exercise for children: With more social media and online use, exercise is clearly getting short shrift. That's why professionals like Felix Neureuther, Franziska van Almsick and Thomas Müller have joined forces for the step4help project. The charity walk aims to collect as many steps as possible, individually or in a group, in 30 days - the more steps, the more donations. Time to put your running shoes on and get off the sofa.

Out of the Lederhosen, into the Professional League

The FC South Tyrol rises from the third division in Serie B and thus in the Italian professional soccer - and writes history. Since 1948, no other club from South Tyrol has managed to do so.

"That would be a huge thing," said managing director Dietmar Pfeifer in the Sport1 interview. And that's exactly what it is, it's about more than just good football. In the autonomous province of Bolzano/South Tyrol, tensions can sometimes arise between the Italian- and German-speaking inhabitants. Here, the young FC is a common ground that can be agreed upon. And exactly therefore the rise of the FC South Tyrol is times a really good news.

Go Diversity!

5:0 for VfL Wolfsburg against FSV Mainz last Friday - no wonder with so many good vibes before the game. On the Vielfalts-Spieltag, VfL Wolfsburg wanted to bring together the most diverse members of the fan scene to set an example for more equality in society. Striker Max Kruse met a homeless former referee - and scored three of the five goals in the game afterward. His teammate Maxence Lacroix learned sign language before the game so he could communicate with a deaf fan. Cool action and deserved success, we think!

Mission Accomplished, Sarah Voss

She wanted to make a statement and that's exactly what she did: A year ago, Olympic gymnast Sarah Voss caused a stir for the first time at an international competition wearing a full-body suit.

More attention to the sport, less attention to the athletes' skimpy one-piece suits, was her message.

And that arrived: "I believe that an impetus for change has been created. I assume, however, that it still takes a little time, but that you will then soon see even more often female athletes in long suits," she told the newspapers of the Funke media group. Also in other sports have now done something. Keep it up!

A Shoe for the Organic Waste Garbage Can

A cool sneaker without a guilty conscience? That's exactly what Puma is working on right now. The new edition RE: Suede Sneaker of the classic should simply be able to be composted when it's time to say goodbye. And thus produce less waste. Sounds sensible, but does it work? That's what 500 participants in Germany are testing right now, wearing the shoe for six months - then Dutch composting expert Ortessa takes over. A shoe for the bio garbage can, that would be really sustainable.
