Around 30,000 trade visitors found their way to the China International Exhibition Center between the 16th and the 19th of January 2019 and opened the ISPO trade fair year. The public was able to see more than 400 exhibitors and 682 brands from the winter sports, outdoor, health & fitness, manufacturing & suppliers sectors at the largest multi-segment sports fair in the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition to the new location for the 15th anniversary of the fair, ISPO Beijing 2019 also set a new focus: soccer. There was a cooperation of seven Bundesliga clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 and a International Soccer Forum.
"The Chinese have discovered soccer for themselves, the enthusiasm grows steadily. European clubs and leagues are the main role models for offspring. With the Bundesliga International we were able to win a new strong partner for ISPO Beijing in order to further advance the soccer boom in Asia in the the years to come", says Elena Jasper, Project Manager of ISPO Beijing. The feedback from the Bundesliga clubs was also consistently positive, and an expansion of cooperation during ISPO Shanghai 2019 (5 to 7 July) is very well possible.
The Asia Pacific Snow Conference, on the other hand, has been an integral part of ISPO Beijing for eleven years. As in the previous three years, Wu Bin, CEO of Beijing Carving Ski Sports Development Corp., presented his status report on the state of the ski industry in China with the White Book 2018.
The participants of the ISPO Ski Resort Tour were able to get an up-to-date picture of the development of the ski industry after the trade fair. In two days, three resorts northwest of Beijing were visited, including the Genting Ski Resort Secret Garden, where all Olympic snowboarding competitions will be held in 2022.
"The professionalism with which China is preparing for this major sporting event is impressive. The Olympic Games will only be the beginning of China as a winter sports nation," sums up Klaus Dittrich, Chairman of the Board of Management of Messe München.
Of course, the 2022 Winter Olympics were also an important focus at the China International Exhibition Center. Burton and Oakley returned as exhibitors in the winter sports segment, and the Market Introduction Program (MIP) for brands seeking to enter the Chinese market also addressed the issue. Representatives of ten brands from Europe, Asia and the USA took part in the two-day seminar program, where industry experts from the divisions of distribution, online and offline retail as well as commercial law explained the peculiarities of the Chinese market and made first contacts.
