VF Corporation seeks buyer for Majestic Athletic

VF Corp., the apparel and sporting goods behemoth from North Carolina, has revised its portfolio and is looking to divest its Licensed Sports Group (LSG) business. LSG is part of the Imagewear Coalition which booked sales of 1.1 billion US dollars in 2015.

VF plans to withdraw from licensing business. The group has put its License Sports Group division around the Majestic brand on the block.

About half of this turnover has been contributed by LSG. The rest of the Imagewear division is dedicated to the design and marketing of work and professional wear. The core of LSG is team sports brand Majestic Athletic as well as licensed garments for largely American professional, university and college teams.

VF Corporation controls a vast portfolio of brands such as The North Face, Timberland, Smartwool, Kipling, Nautica, Wrangler, Lee, Napapijri, Jansport, Vans and more. Majestic Athletic was acquired back in spring 2007.
