Since 2012, Walbrecht has run the North American business of the Swedish Fenix Outdoor group with its brands Fjällräven, Primus, Hanwag and Brunton. In addition, he held leading positions at Brandbase with its snowboard labels Nomis, Technine and Sound. Among other responsibilities at skiwear brand Spyder, he acted as president for Europe.

Most recently, Mountain Hardwear was steered, on an interim basis, by Scott Kerslake, head of apparel maker Prana, which is equally a part of the Columbia family of brands along with Montrail and Sorel. Kerslake stepped in after former MHW president Topher Gaylord left the company.
