Amer Sports strengthens its cycle portfolio

Finnish sports equipment group Amer, which owns brands such as Atomic, Salomon, Wilson, Suunto and bicycle maker Mavic, has made another acquisition in the bike category: The Helsinki-based company has announced the takeover of Enve Composites, a Utah-based producer of cycle parts and accessories. The move is intended to strengthen Amer’s position in the North American markets.

Joining the Amer Sports family of brands: Enve, U.S. manufacturer of bicycle components.

The acquisition might be interesting not only for the bike portfolio but also for Amer’s offer of snowsports and tennis equipment, because Enve is a specialty company for carbon processing.
Lately, Enve saw annual sales of 30 million U.S. dollars.

Amer Sports is paying about 50 million dollars for the company. According to its own information, the acquisition will have no impact on Amer’s financial balance in 2016.
