International experts: core of ISPO Textrends

ISPO Textrends Judging & Criteria

The jury – comprising international experts (journalists, designers, independent professionals) – will evaluate, discuss and select the best products from a large number of applications.

Please note: The more information you provide with your material sample, the easier for the jury to judge your entry. If you have test results approved by an independent laboratory or if an independent institute approved your material (e.g. bluesign), please provide the appropriate test sheets or certificates. Help the jury to make the correct decisions.

ROUND 1 / PRE-JUDGING

If we receive more than 300 applications, we will do a pre-judging.

The pre-judging will be done by our head judge Louisa Smith who will evaluate each entry according to five criteria: Performance, Best Hand, Creativity, Innovation and Best Multi-Function.

Only the 300 products that perform best in the first round will make it to the second round, the jury meeting, and will have the chance to become the Best Product or a Top 10 product within their category.

ROUND 2 / JURY MEETING

In round 2 the products will be re-evaluated according to predefined criteria by the whole jury. The products will be rated based on the following scoring system. For each criterion a maximum of 4 points can be reached:

0 = not valid
1 = poor
2 = satisfactory
3 = good
4 = very good

After a product has been judged by all jury members the ratings are added up. The jury will then discuss the results and choose the Best Product as well as the Top 10 products per category.

For the Selection we will consider the remaining products as well as the products that did not make it to the second judging round.

BASIC CRITERIA

Each Entry will be evaluated according to the following five criteria:

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR CROSS CATEGORIES

In addition to the five Basic Criteria, products in the category Accelerated Eco will be evaluated according to their achievements in terms of “Eco/Sustainability” and products in the category Performing Finishes will be evaluated based on their finishes. Both criteria are double weighted in relation to all other criteria.
