Climbing the mountains on fixed-rope trails (via ferrata) is perfect for experiencing nature and has become increasingly popular. However, this is still a mountain sports activity fraught with inherent dangers which makes using a via ferrata set obligatory. Conventional sets are designed for average mountaineers weighing approximately 80 kilos and thus not suitable for every climber. The set will not provide persons of less weight or children with the appropriate braking resistance due to the reduced weight which may cause injuries. Edelrid wants to close this gap with its Cable Vario designed for climbers weighing 30 kilos or more. This is the world’s first set that can be adjusted according to the user’s weight. This will increase the braking distance and thus reduce the impact force essentially to a minimum.
