Synthetic fibre textiles release microplastic particles in household laundry - this is extremely bad for the environment and that's why the "TextileMission" joint project has been in existence since September 2017. The aim of the research project is to reduce the impact of microparticles in the future.

TextileMission "runs for a period of three years and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research with around 1.7 million euros as part of the funding priority" Plastics in the Environment - Sources, Sinks, Approaches to Solutions ".

The project partners are: adidas AG, the German Federal Association of the Sporting Goods Industry e. V. (BSI) as project coordinator, Henkel AG & Co. KG aA, the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Miele & Cie. KG, Polartec LLC, TU Dresden, VAUDE Sport GmbH & Co. KG and WWF Germany.
