The camera manufacturer GoPro and the energy drink producer Red Bull enter into a partnership for content production, distribution, cross-promotion and product innovation. Whilst Red Bull takes over shares of GoPro, the producer of action camcorders will become the exclusive partner for point-of-view cameras.

GoPro will be involved in the media production and in showing events from spectacular perspectives. The films will be published on the channels of both companies: GoPro Channel, Red Bull TV, Red Bull.com and the media service platform Red Bull Content Pool.

GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman: “The global reach and strategy implementation of Red Bull is absolutely admirable. This is a very strategic partnership for GoPro.”

“Unique pictures from the first person perspective, breathtaking angles and innovative footage are the characteristics of Red Bull Productions and live broadcasts”, says Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder and CEO of Red Bull. “As partners, Red Bull and GoPro together will expand not only our collective international reach but also our ability to fascinate people. As a result we will also be able to shape content in an even more thrilling way.”

GoPro must reposition itself, because the U.S. company recently had a drop in sales of 50 percent. Before the introduction of Red Bull, GoPro had already announced a cooperation with a Formula 1 team and the purchase of two video apps .
