Sporting goods manufacturer Adidas has published its preliminary business figures for the first quarter of 2016 and exceeds its own expectations.

As the company, which is based in Herzogenaurach, announced, the operating result in the first quarter increased by 35 percent to 490 million Euro. This was achieved through a higher gross margin as well as the improvement of the operating expenses in relation to sales. Overall the company increased by 17 percent and thereby attained Group sales of 4.8 billion Euro.

For fiscal 2016 Adidas corrected its growth forecast of ten to twelve percent to 15 percent. Also the prognoses for Group profits were increased to 18 percent. Further details will be available from 4 May, as soon as the quarterly report is publicly announced.

Most recently the company announced that it will outfit the German athletes in the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
