Black Diamond Equipment, the U.S. marketer of climbing gear, has launched a voluntary recall of certain items of climbing equipment. The company explained that while no accidents have been reported far, in the interest of customer safety, it felt that some products should be recalled to prevent any incidents.

Basically, it concerns carabiners/quickdraws and nylon runners. In the case of one of the carabiners, the gate has not been manufactured properly. With the nylon runners, a retailer discovered one product that it was held together by a tape splice.

Retailers and consumers are urged to check out further information provided by Black Diamond at these links for 'Runner' and 'Carabiner'. These websites answer the most important questions and explain which specific items should be returned to a retailer or the manufacturer.
