Focus on E-Mobility warmly embraced
ISPO BIKE 2012 closes its doors today four days after opening. More than 6,000 trade visitors from 46 countries informed themselves about the innovations and new additions of the 290 exhibitors at the Messe München trade fair grounds. The ISPO bicycle show consequently demonstrated its specialist audience stability in its fourth year. Alongside Germany, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic and the People’s Republic of China were also among the countries with the highest number of visitors. Klaus Dittrich, CEO at Messe München International, is particularly happy about the new countries sending professional visitors: “The highest increases at ISPO BIKE came from China and Taiwan, among others. This development underscores the increasing importance of the trade fair in the important Asian market.”
37 percent of the trade visitors rated ISPO BIKE in the visitor survey as very good to excellent, while a further 38 percent rated it as good. 53 percent of those surveyed also believe ISPO BIKE will continue to grow in importance. A further 31 percent believe the trade fair will maintain its consistent importance. The good working atmosphere and the high visitor quality were also positively emphasized: 89 percent were part of the “decision-maker” group.
The trade visitors’ top objectives once again included the E-Mobility hall with exhibitors from the E-Bike, Pedelec and battery charging station areas.
49 percent of the trade visitors rated the on-site offering as very good to excellent, and a further 43 percent rated it as good. The 250 plus test bikes, which were standing ready at the check-in stands around the world's largest indoor TEST IT course for E-Bikes and Pedelecs, were extensively tested. “With our clear strategic orientation towards the E-Bike, Pedelec and Urban Biking topics, we have now taken an important step in our direction as a leading platform for bicycle mobility.” Both of these focus points grew this year in both quality and quantity,” explained Klaus Dittrich as the trade fair closed.
More than 10,000 end consumers visited ISPO BIKE at the weekend. The fall in visitor numbers is in particular due to the cancellation of the Go Big or Go Home dirt jump competition, which proved to be a visitor magnet in the past, but was not staged as a consequence of the concentration on the E-Bike, Pedelec and Urban Biking topics.
Statements
Stefan Limbrunner, Head of Sales & Markting, Advisory Board Member, KTM Fahrrad GmbH:
"Infrastructure, logistics, team - Munich simply is one of Europe's best trade show venues."
Mario Moeschler, Head of Sales Accell Germany GmbH / Hercules:
“On average the quality of the contacts has increased. There is simply more time for sales talks and the resulting deals. The trade fair’s run-up and on-site organization is superb.
Peter Schlitt, Managing Director at ADP Engineering GmbH:
“ISPO BIKE’s profile intensification on the Urban and E-Mobility topics is the right step for us, particularly with regard to our Flik folding bike brand. Ultimately here in Munich we were also able to show off our premium quality Rotwild brand mountain bikes to a high purchasing power clientele.
Tobias Schweter, General Manager GER/AUT/CH/FL Cycling Sports Group Europe B.V.:
“All our expectations were met on the specialist trade days. The general visitor days, especially in the E-Bike test area, were very well received. The Messe München team’s organization and support were exemplary.”
Mario Preining, CCO eRide Industries GmbH:
“Winning the ISPO BRANDNEW Awards 2011 was a breakthrough experience for EGO-Kits. The evaluation of experts and industry insiders is very important for new concepts and product ideas in particular. The respective intensive media promotion resulted in a high level of recognition, product comprehension and name recognition. We are extremely happy to be able to promote up-and-coming brands in 2012 as an ISPO BRANDNEW Award partner. The long jump world record for E-Bikes set by Michael Pruckner and accelerated by an EGO Kits brand E-motor was a special highlight in this respect.”
Hannes Neupert, SeniorChairman of Extra Energy e.V.:
“The electro mobility orientation was the right decision, as demonstrated just now. The topic really has come into its own.”
Mike Dietz, SeniorProduct Manager at Kettler Bike:
“Every dealer we invited came to the show. So we are really happy with how the trade fair went off. Our presentation in the E-Mobility hall and the check-in stand directly on the course allowed retailers and end consumers to test our new additions directly, so they could experience them right there and then.”
Edward Benjamin, President of the Light Electric Vehicle Association:
“I found it easier at ISPO BIKE to spend time with LEVA members, and I also had more access to important industry contacts than I have at other shows. Munich’s superb underground system and the world class hotel and hospitality offering saved us so much time and money. We got more work done, in less time, and without struggling to find hotels and taxis or having to deal with traffic jams.
Philipp Saylen, CEO at Zuri GmbH:
“The ISPO Brandnew Award and our distinction as overall winner rewarded us with unique media attention. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better market start in the leading TV and print media, for example. With this award we are hoping for further customer confidence in Zuri and bamboo bicycles, and in the coming year we intend to be the number one bamboo bikes provider in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”
