The jury for the ISPO AWARD in the product division is made up of international sport journalists as well as experts from trade and design. All four segments will be covered. The judgement of professional athletes will also influence the decision of the jury.

Career
With an MBA in Marketing and Environmental Management, Mike Lewis brings to the table elite business knowledge in addition to an extensive action sports background of over 20 years, managing several snowboard/skate shops. His journalism career archive is extensive, stemming from local Colorado newspapers to action sports multimedia brand, Bluetorch. Lewis has been with TransWorld since 2007 and oversees TransWorld Business' editorial staff and manages the brand's multiple media outlets.
Danny Burrows

"I have been editor of Onboard magazine for the past 10 years, having come into the job via freelance journalism and photography. I began my riding days on surf and skate boards and got into snowboarding in the early 90s when I was working in a surf shop in the UK."
Kuno Prey

"It's an extremely stimulating experience that allowed me to get in touch with interesting people, learn new things about sport and enjoy myself all at the same time."
Career
After completing his education in Art and Design, he began operating in his own studio. His natural curiosity led him to experiment the use of new materials and technologies. His original and ingenious work developed into highly successful products that won a host of international awards. From 1993 to 2002 he was appointed Professor of Product Design at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany. In 2002 he returned to Italy to found the Faculty of Design and Art at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano that, guided by him as dean until 2010, is now rated among the most renown schools in Europe. Starting October 2010 he has resumed teaching full time and doing research in product design.

"I have been involved in snowboarding since 1984 and working within the industry since 1987. My first role was as UK brand manager for Sims Snowboards, since then I have worked with many snowboard brands and manufacturers across a whole host of product categories. I was also involved with the establishment of the ISF back in the early 90's and was also heavily involved with setting up the UK snowboard Association. Then in 1994 I moved to the other side of the industry and became Operations Manager for the retail chain The Snowboard Asylum. We grew this brand to become the UK's no1 snowboard retailer managing to grow our business whilst also retaining our status as a core retailer."

Career
"I'm raised in the board sport world and very proud of that. I started skateboarding in 1977 and bought my first snowboard in 1979 and have been riding both since then. I had my own clothing company for 6-7 years in the mid 80's and switched to being a freelance photographer. I combined that with running a snowboard shop in Åre and being the coach for the Swedish national team in snowboarding until I started working as editor at the Swedish ski magazine Åka Skidor. That led to my current job as editor-in-chief for the sports trade magazine Sportfack, a position I've had since 2000. Apart from riding skateboard and snowboard I'm into skiing, running and playing golf."
Sebastian Steudtner

It's great to be able to see the products people came up with. The same as in the sport, products are always evolving and getting to a higher standard, its interesting to be involved in that!
Career
Action sports athlete Sebastian Steudtner has surfed some of the biggest waves in the world. In 2010 he won the most prestigious price in big wave surfing, the Global Big Wave Award, when he surfed a 22 meter wave of the northshore of Hawaii. Sebastian is the first internationally recognized european big wave surfer and one of Germany's most popular extreme sports athletes.

After a while I missed the whole boardsport industry and found a new home in Schladming with the guys from Blue Tomato where I'm now responsible for the whole hardgoods buying process."

Tom Wilson-North is an accomplished winter sports writer with a solid background in snowboard hardgoods purchasing and snowboard instruction. He has been heavily involved in new product development, particularly in the backcountry and protective gear sectors. He is married, 32 years old and lives year-round in Chamonix, France, to which he has written an authoritative mountain bike trail book'.

In 1985 coach and athletics responsible in the Italian National Teams with downhillers such as Kristian Ghedina. Journalist since 1990 with the major italian ski and outdoor magazines and web sites, in charge of gear testing and innovation, with hundreds of sessions, thousands of products, and continuing so far. Since 2001 "Expert commentator" of the men alpine skiing competitions within Eurosport TV Italia, in World Cup, World Championships and Olympics. Since 2010 creator, project and test manager of the internet site www.outdoortest.it totally committed to field proofs of outdoor gears, for 4 seasons sports.
Andrej Kupetz

Career
Andrej Kupetz (*1968) has been General Manager of the Rat für Formgebung/German Design Council in Frankfurt/ Main since 1999. He studied industrial design, philosophy and product marketing in Berlin, London and Paris. In 1997, after various positions in design management and university liaison, Andrej Kupetz joined German Railways (Deutschen Bahn AG) where he was responsible for brand management in the DB Group and for the implementation of various corporate-design processes. Kupetz is member of the advisory board of the Design Management Institute Bosten. Since 2011 Kupetz has been a member of the higher education council of the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach/Main. That same year the European Commission appointed him to the European Design Leadership Board.

"Before joining the biggest action sports media company in France -Éditions Nivéales, I worked as the editor in a large website for several years. Editions Nivéales publish the following magazines: Snowsurf, Ski Magazine, Skieur Magazine, Grimper, Montagnes, Vertical, etc. I started snowboarding late, at the age of 15, but made up for it, and in the last 20 years I have tried and tested more than 500 different skis and snowboards. I was also able to ski in Europe, Japan, and the Americas in over 100 major or secret resorts, either using the lifts, snowmobiling, skinning up or boarding the occasional heli. I have an academic background in statistical computing, and a PhD in Genetics."

I enjoy/love long backpacking trips in wild regions as well as mountaineering and traditional climbing."

Michi Wohlleben

Michi Wohlleben sets s great example for young competent athletes. Only 21 years old, Michi aspires to be a mountain guide and is a professional mountain climber in all conditions. Whether it's climbing the Eiger north face in five hours and ten minutes or going on expeditions in Pakistan or Morocco, Michi knows from his experience what makes an outdoor product stand out.

Patrick Jost has been working as a full-time professional mountain guide since 1998. Patrick is a member examiners commission TU Munich/certified mountain guides. Piotr Turkot is a co-owner and publisher of the first Polish outdoor industry magazine - 4outdoor as well as most popular polish climbing site - wspinanie.pl. He is an organizer of cultural and sport event - Krakow Mountain Festival. He is one of the initiators of Polish Outdoor Group and now he is a President of the organization. In his free time he is a climber and outdoor enthusiast.

After working in solar energy research for some years I became a professional journalist. Together with my colleague Ralph Stöhr, I founded the climbing and mountaineering magazine klettern in 1995. Since then I am the editor in chief of klettern."

Clare Varga is sportswear expert with over 16 years experience in design and product creation. She is passionate about sport both on and off the field and it is this that fuels her love of performance sports and active apparel. As a former Creative Director at Reebok Europe, Clare has strong creative vision and in depth understanding of the sports apparel market. Her on-field performance credentials include hi- profile kits for Liverpool FC, Wales RFU, Venus Williams and the British Athletics Federation.Clare also launched her own design consultancy and worked with sports brands that included JD Sport, Ellesse, Diadora, Rockport and John Partridge. She grew up living the outdoor life in the Lake District and graduated from Newcastle with a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing.

Career
After his diploma Michael Lanz started his career 1991 as an industrial designer at the design department of the Siemens AG. From 2001 he was the responsible Manager for the design of all Gigaset Products and leading a team of 5 designers. In 2005 he was assigned for the direction of the Color & Material Design Team.
Since 2007 Michael Lanz is one of the four new owners and managing directors of designaffairs.
Lanz also worked as an assistant professor at the Technical University of Dresden. He is regularly giving talks on design, innovation processes and design trends and was a jury-member of several well-known design awards.
Lanz was granted with several prestigious design awards, among other the IF gold and "best of category" design award and the red dot design award. Some of his designs are part of the permanent exhibition of the world-famous "Neue Sammlung" in Munich, Germany.
Nils Schumann

Career
As a former Olympic champion in 800m Track, Nils Schuhmann knows his stuff when it comes to performance sports. After retiring as a professional athlete he started his own business, Prana Sports GmbH, working as a personal trainer and coach in sports and everyday life. With his expertise, he is clearly an enrichment to the performance jury.
Stefan Herzog
