Finger on the pulse of the global sports industry

ISPO.COM brings all the major news from the global sports industry together with leading articles, reports, interviews, and expert views from opinion leaders. We cover all the facts from an independent point of view. We are closely involved in the industry and yet all our reports are neutral. We introduce our readers to all the latest trends and products.

We provide a first-hand account of news and topics from within the sports industry. Our global network, foreign correspondents, and international branches and subsidiaries allow us to always be right at the heart of the action.

ISPO.com puts key topics in the spotlight, including trends, special interest topics, and major events like the Olympic Games. Unlike the main stream media, we view such events from a unique sports business perspective, providing exclusive insights from behind the scenes.

We write and publish new content every day in both German and English, catering to an international readership. ISPO.com is closely linked to our social media channels, meaning we can reach our readers at any time of day, communicating closely with them as their steadfast companion.

Experienced editors and renowned guest writers

Skilled sports journalists head up the ISPO.com editorial team and prestigious guest writers make valuable contributions to our content in the form of reports, articles on the latest trends, and columns.

Gunnar Jans

Editor-in-Chief

In 2016, after two decades in traditional journalism, Gunnar Jans transferred from the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) to The Digitale, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom that deals with content marketing. He is now responsible for ISPO.com in his role as Editor-in-Chief. Jans had previously spent over ten years in Munich as head of the sports column in another German paper, Abendzeitung (AZ), as well as directing the digital sports section of the SZ. His reports for SZ and AZ focused on the soccer world and European championships – and he was there with the FC Bayern soccer club through their many highs and lows. A passionate 'marathonian', the Editor-in-Chief of ISPO.com goes for runs along the Isar river almost every day – and sometimes he even runs the 21.1km (approx. 13.2 miles) from the ISPO MUNICH to his house.

Karsten Lohmeyer

Chief Content Officer

As Chief Content Officer, Karsten Lohmeyer is in charge of all editorial activities of The Digitale, Deutsche Telekom's content marketing agency. ISPO.com – the editorial concept of which Lohmeyer played a significant role in developing – is a project close to his heart. This is because it demonstrates how a traditional exhibition can be transformed into a 24/7 media platform and catapult the brand online and into the digital age. A graduate from the German School of Journalism, Lohmeyer has built himself an impressive career working for countless well-respected media companies. Furthermore, his blog Lousypennies.de has made him one of the most prominent voices in the discussion about digital media transformation.

Julian Galinski (Quelle: ISPO)
Julian Galinski

Senior Editor

Julian Galinski's enthusiasm lies with mountaineering, but only those challenging climbs that require holding on with your hands to stop yourself from falling. At home, he loves exercising using a TRX or a smaller version of the traditional bars, as well as pushing his finger strength while bouldering. He trained as a sports editor at the Abendzeitung München newspaper, wrote for the sports department at the SZ and was responsible for all sports but soccer at Sport1.de. He is now Senior Editor at The Digitale and ISPO.com. As a trained fitness instructor, he also volunteers as a health representative in the editorial department.

Joscha Thieringer (Quelle: ISPO)
Joscha Thieringer

Editor

With a degree in Sports Science, Joscha Thieringer (from the Upper Palatinate region of Germany) already has many strings to his bow: He has written for the German Press Agency and for the AZ, and was editor at Focus Online. Furthermore, for years now he has been soccer editor at Sky, a role in which he currently focuses on German soccer and on Champions league games. Thieringer works as an author for ISPO.com, specializing in the world of innovations. When he is not writing, Thieringer likes spending time on the soccer field: as a referee.

Florian Pertsch (Quelle: ISPO)
Author

Florian Pertsch

Trailrunning, crossfit, basketball or standup paddling in winter: Florian Pertsch is up for trying any sport he comes across and quite a few leave him feeling fantastic. However, despite his extensive theoretical knowledge as a sports scientist, he does not cut a very fine sporting figure. Following five years as editor and commentator at Sport1, he began working in Munich for THE DIGITALE and ISPO.com. After moving to Los Angeles, he set up a correspondents' office and now reports to ISPO.com on the US market. In addition, he is in charge of contents relating to China, giving him a connection to ISPO BEIJING and ISPO SHANGHAI. His surfboard is already waiting in the garage...
